It comes as a flat polypore that grows from the side of logs and/or branches to twigs of dead wood. But I harvest it in the wild during the fall fairly easily. I live in an area that is very abundant with the growths after the fall rains.It is a flat, thin, fan-like or leaf looking growth that usually comes in multiples but can come.In singles from about a half inch to around 1 1/2 inches in diameter commonly. that is attached by a short stype or directly to the dead wood.
