Simply amazing opportunity for young performers! Cirque Du Soleil calls audition for kids. Open hip-hop dance auditions  for the Opening Ceremony of the TORONTO 2015 Pan Am Games on February 8, 2015.


The Cirque du Soleil Casting Team will be hosting open hip-hop dance auditions in Toronto, Ontario, Canada on February 8, 2015. The audition information posted by Cirque du Soleil’s casting team brings wonderful chance, because for this performance they looking for 115 children and 50 hip-hop dancers to perform at Pan Am opening. Auditions take place Feb. 7-8.

Cirque du Soleil is calling on volunteer performers for its biggest production yet — the opening ceremony of the Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games. On Feb. 7 and Feb. 8, Cirque du Soleil’s casting team will hold open auditions for children and hip-hop dancers for the ceremony.

“It’s a unique chance for people to participate in a Cirque du Soleil show,” creative designer Jean Guibert told the Star, calling the opening ceremony the “biggest event Cirque du Soleil has ever produced in its life. We really want to work closely with the communities, and give local talents a chance to shine and work with very talented people,” he said.

On Feb. 7, the search will be on for 115 children of all cultural backgrounds. Those auditioning must be at least 12 years old as of April 24, 2015. Successful candidates don’t need any acting or dance experience but should be confident on stage, says Guibert.

According to the event listing, Cirque du Soleil is searching for volunteer performers who look to be between 8 and 10 years old, who are not taller than four-foot-10 and can portray emotion without using words.

“The children’s roles are really about acting,” says Guibert. “What is important to us is the unique diversity and multicultural aspect of Toronto.”

“We really need a representation of this diversity and the future of the city,” he says, adding that it will be a “beautiful and emotional segment where the (children) are going to share a stage with some dancers and acrobats.”

The next day, the casting team will be searching for 50 hip-hop dancers of all cultural backgrounds and body types, who are older than 18. Dancers can look forward to being directed by renowned Canadian choreographer Luther Brown, who has worked on such productions as So You Think You Can Dance .

The Pan Am Games opening ceremony, where a cauldron is set ablaze to mark the official start of the games, will take place at the Rogers Centre on July 10.
