We'll talk all things gaming!Legend of Zelda Fan Rumors Were "Frustrating" to Donkey Kong Game DevelopersWhen Eric Kozlowsky was hired by Retro Studios, it resulted in reports suggesting that Retro Studios was in the process of developing a brand-new Zelda game.
The artist had previously worked in the PlayStation's Uncharted series which, for some reason, that brought fans to create an association. However, Kozlowsky and Retro Studios were actually working on Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, and when the game's official unveiling took place it was met with a slew of Zelda fans blasted it, claiming they were expecting something different. In a brand new interview with Kiwi Talkz, the Kiwi Talkz podcast, Kozlowsky admitted that the rumor was a source of frustration for the developers.
"Sometimes it's hard because it can create false expectations. I believe that was the case when we first announced Tropical Freeze. You know, everyone was saying 'they're working hard on the next Zelda game or they're developing an Zelda game', but then they said nope. We announced Tropical Freeze and it looks phenomenal and it's gorgeous looking but then people go "oh, but it's another Donkey Kong.'
Then you notice that everyone is slapping the Neogaf show or something and you're like 'oh well because everyone yeah, believed that we were doing an Zelda game and it's like no, that's not what does our team.' It's both humorous at times. it, but sometimes it becomes uncomfortable when it continues for a bit too long," said Kozlowsky.
