In Diablo, an Immortal character comes with Diablo IV Gold six legendary gem slots. Each gem has an arbitrary rating, ranging from one up to five stars. The rating cannot be changed and which hugely impacts the power of the gem. Gems with five stars are rarer than one-star. Legendary gems are upgradeable by consuming other legendary gems. The simplest method to do so is by using other gems with legendary qualities. An upgraded gem can be further improved by a "gem resonance" method that requires -you know what -- more legendary gems, as much as five additional gems per gem slot.
If you're trying to enhance your character -- and maximising your character is what Diablo is about -- you'll need lots of legendary gems. select the ones that match your character, to score high star ratings, to upgrade the gems that you have, and then to include them in the gem's extra resonance slots. It's endless.
In the Diablo Immortal's myriad of currencies, upgrade paths, and reward system, legendary gems are the ones where the business model is at its the most. Blizzard and NetEase have not been so stupid as to sell directly through a luot box or gacha mechanic, but what they've come up with could be, in some sense that is even more alarming. Legendary gems only drop from the bosses of the randomly generated Elder Rift dungeons, and it is only possible to guarantee that you will get a legendary gem by applying an legendary crest modifier the dungeon prior starting it. The drop rates for legendary gems are extremely low.
While you do not have to pay any money for the game, you can only receive one legendary crest every month, and even buying the battle pass will reward you with two or three additional legendary crests per month. Beyond that, you need to purchase them in person. Legendary crests range in price from about $2-$3 one-time. The sheer amount of gems you will need to maximize your character's equipment and abilities, particularly when you consider the extremely low drop rates for five-star gems, is one of the reason why the cost of maxing out your character's capabilities is so high in buy Diablo 4 Gold Immortal has been estimated at between $50,000 and $100,000- potentially even more, when you're deep into the system of gem resonance. (Rock Paper Shotgun comes with an extremely thorough breakdown of cost that is located at the prudent end of the spectrum.)
