Diablo 4 has plenty of grim little corners where fishing would feel right at home, especially along the coast of Scosglen or in the wet, miserable swamps of Hawezar. Still, there's no proper fishing feature in the live game at the moment. You can't cast a rod, pull up rare fish, or turn them into potions. If you've seen guides talking about secret pools or fishing routes, it's best to treat them as old rumours or wishful thinking. What you can do, though, is build a slower farming routine that still feeds your stash, your crafting needs, and even your Diablo 4 gear upgrades without forcing you into another hard push through dungeons.
Use the world instead of chasing a missing systemThe closest thing to fishing right now is a calm open-world loop. Ride out from town, grab herbs, mine ore, clear a cellar, stop for an event, then check whether a Whisper objective is nearby. It's simple, but it works. You're not locked into a timer unless Helltide is active, and you can leave whenever your bags are full or your brain's had enough. A lot of players do this between Nightmare Dungeon runs because it keeps progress moving without feeling like work. You'll pick up gold, salvage, crafting materials, Obols, renown bits, and the odd decent drop along the way.
Scosglen and Fractured Peaks are easy places to settle intoScosglen is probably the most relaxed region for this kind of route. The roads are open, the coastline is easy to follow, and you don't spend half your ride bumping into rocks. It's a good place to gather plants, hit small events, and clear enemy packs without getting dragged into constant messy fights. Fractured Peaks has a similar appeal, especially for newer seasonal characters. It's familiar. The terrain makes sense. You can loop between towns, ore spots, and quick objectives without needing a map open every thirty seconds. It may not be the richest area, but it's comfortable, and that matters when you're farming for an hour.
Hawezar and Kehjistan pay better when you're readyHawezar is less gentle. The swamps are crowded, enemies interrupt you often, and some paths feel awkward on a mount. But if your build clears packs fast, the zone can be great. Events pop up often, herbs are easy to find, and Whisper tasks can stack nicely if you plan a rough circle instead of wandering at random. Kehjistan has a different rhythm. The desert gives you wide lanes and cleaner travel, which makes it strong for ore and mixed material runs. When Helltide lands there, it's even better. You can gather, fight elites, open chests, and pick up Forgotten Souls without feeling boxed in.
Keep the loop loose and usefulDon't overplan it like a spreadsheet. Pick a region, empty your bags, then ride a route that hits three or four useful things before returning to town. Salvage often, stash the materials you care about, and don't ignore movement speed on boots or skills that let you cross gaps quickly. That saves more time than people think. If Blizzard ever adds real fishing, plenty of players will happily sit by a river for a change of pace. Until then, steady open-world farming fills that gap well, and some players also compare upgrades or browse Diablo 4 gear for sale while planning what their next farming session should actually support.
